I know you asked a really long time ago, and I’m sorry, but I was waiting until I had time to write something really beautiful to do the story of suitcase dog justice.

but I just found out today that the story of suitcase dog is actually like an urban legend of sorts and that the person who told me this as though it actually happened was a liar. my friends, knowing my love of the story, let me go on living as though it were real. it got me through some rough times so, though I wish that I had known the truth, I thank them for their patience and superior capacity to act.

now when I was very young I didn’t get to believe in santa clause or the easter bunny or anything, so I guess this was like my modern santa. except that I didn’t believe that suitcase dog brought me presents on Christmas, just that suitcase dog brought joy to my heart daily.

I used to do a wrenching, soulful, and comedic timed telling of the story, but my heart isn’t in it, because where all of my joy once was there is now emptiness. if you want, you can google the phrase “dead dog suitcase” and you’ll get the gist of suitcase dog.

I suppose I will keep the url suitcasedog as a beautiful memory of when my world was full of wonder.
